Washington DC

We decided to celebrate Cameron's 13th birthday today as we will be traveling tomorrow and it was going to be his birthday in Australian time anyway! So our day started with gifts and scrambled eggs.

A chilly day in Washington DC so we headed off to hire some bikes to get around the major monuments and memorials. There is so much to see and the bikes were a great way to do it. They really know how to make a memorial!

The White House.
Too cold for a Forest Gump reenactment here.
Korean War memorial.

After the bike ride and a bite to eat we walked over to the Smithsonian Air and Space museum. Another massive collection of stuff. Cameron and Lillian particularly enjoyed the flight simulator and spent most of their "flight" upside down!

Happy birthday to Cameron!

Back "home" and then out for a Mexican/ el salvador dinner. The owners were fascinated that we are Australian and so kept bringing us complimentary courses, including tequila shots for Chris and I (which we tipped out when they weren't looking!). So with very full bellies we go to bed and prepare for the next leg of our trip over on the west coast.
