From Grand Canyon to Monument Valley

Took a final look into the canyon before heading onto Monument Valley. The countryside that we passed through is all very interesting with amazing rock formations but once we got to monument valley - woah!!

It is amazing. The rocks (or buttes) are huge and so beautiful. We went on a Navajo spirit tour which took us into restricted areas and our guide was able to tell us quite a bit about the native Americans who live in this area. The highlight was when he showed us a huge cave, called the big hogan, and then sang two traditional songs which echoed around the cave. It was fantastic.

We are staying right in the valley at The View Hotel, so straight after the tour we dined in the restaurant with a spectacular view as the sun set over the valley. And the food was delicious!

The view from our room.
Looking forward to the sunrise...
